Reese Witherspoon and daughter Eva Philip look strikingly alike in new selfie
I'll admit: I'm probably a little bummed out by our surprise that Reese Witherspoon's daughter Ava Philip (opens in new tab) is not a Reese afterthought, but her own personality, bearing a striking resemblance to the woman who provided 50% of her DNA. Still, I can't help but be surprised! At first glance, I sincerely believed that Witherspoon's latest Instagram post featured Reese in 2020 alongside Tracy Flick in 1999. Take a look:
In fact, the mother-daughter duo has been particularly focused on twinning lately, as seen in this photo (opens in new tab) of them coordinating puff jackets in January. A pre-Christmas selfie in matching black outfits and matching red lips (opens in new tab). Or the moment in November when they smiled while eating a salad (opens in new tab), when Gabrielle Union, Kacey Musgraves, and Rita Wilson said, "Twins!" (opens in new tab), "Elle" reported (opens in new tab).
Witherspoon and Phillip have a truly enviable relationship and apparently are not burdened by the incessant comparisons that I and other members of the reprehensible media cannot help but make. Last July, Philip posted a photo of his mother with the caption, "This is a gorgeous woman who taught me about the power of grace, love, ambition, and hard work. She inspires me every day to be grateful for the life I have been given and to live it with compassion for others. I'm thinking about her a little extra today, that's all." [And on Philip's 20th birthday in September, Witherspoon returned the sentiment." She wrote on Instagram (opens in new tab), "Watching your little girl grow into a gorgeous, thoughtful, caring, fun-loving young woman leaves me speechless." It has been the greatest gift I could ever receive. Love you @avaphillippe until the moon, around the stars and back!"
.
Still, if Philippe wants to go about her day without being mistaken for Elle Woods Younger, she can always go back to a technique she tried last week on Instagram: dying her hair pink.
