Is there really a senior spinoff of "The Bachelor"?

For better or worse, this year was already shaping up to be a big year in the Bachelor world. Coming up are (open in new tab) The Bachelor, (open in new tab) Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart (open in new tab), Bachelor In Paradise (open in new tab), Bachelor Summer Games" (opens in a new tab)--and if you haven't already canceled all of your 2020 plans to watch hours and hours of morally questionable reality TV, wait until you hear this. The Bachelor promo, which aired on this week's episode of Fantasy Suite (opens in new tab), called for "seniors looking for love" nationwide, and ABC's casting page confirmed that a "golden age" version of The Bachelor is in the works.

Allow me to quote:

Casting is underway for seniors looking for love! The producers of The Bachelor are looking for active and outgoing Golden Age singles for their new and exciting dating show!

Here's the promo in question:

If Nick Viall has proven anything, it's that neither the passage of time nor multiple rejected proposals should stop anyone from trying to find love in the world of The Bachelor again and again. I'm picturing fan favorites Viall! Ben Higgins Andy Dorfman! -I imagine them returning 30 years later, wrinkles straightened, with lots of intros about how the heart is still open to love.

But in the meantime, we have ...... The Hollywood Reporter reports that we will be seeing the show, tentatively titled "Golden Years."

The producers of The Bachelor also posted this last month:

They say that change is the only constant, but the relentlessly cheesy world of The Bachelor, year after year, is in fact proving to be the only constant. Amen.
