Jamie Lynn Spears on Hilary Duff's "Lizzie McGuire" Drama, Quoting the Perfect "Zoey 101"

Former 00s teen queens seem to be banding together.

Jamie Lynn Spears (opens in new tab) took to Instagram this weekend to discuss the uncertain future of the highly anticipated Lizzie McGuire reboot (opens in new tab) that ended production after two episodes following creative controversy, Hilary Duff's explosive commented in a post (opens in new tab).

Although the full story has not yet been directly explained, Duff, along with original creator and showrunner Terry Minksy (opens in new tab), apparently had a different idea of where the Lizzie reboot (opens in new tab) should go than Disney executives. Specifically, Duff and Minsky apparently wanted the show, which follows Lizzie, now 30, to deal with more adult themes for a show that would air on Disney+, Disney's newly launched streaming platform.

Duff posted on Instagram this past weekend that he wanted Disney to move the project to Hulu, where it would not be stuck "under the ceiling of a PG rating."

The post received widespread support from fans, many of whom used phrases like "Justice for Lizzie" and "#FreeLizzieMcGuire" to show solidarity with Duff's feelings.

Among the comments on the post was one from Duff's longtime friend and fellow tween series star Jamie Lynn Spears (opens in new tab), who appeared on Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101" (opens in new tab) from 2005 to 2008. There were also the aforementioned comments.

"Zoe to the rescue," Spears wrote, referring to the series.

If the Lizzie (opens in new tab) reboot (opens in new tab) does finally appear on our screens (preferably on Hulu, of course) from limbo, we would not object to a Jamie Lynn/Zoe Brooks (opens in new tab) cameo We would have no objection to an appearance.
