Angelina Jolie takes Zahara and Vivienne backstage at Cirque du Soleil

Angelina Jolie has kept a relatively low profile during awards season, but photos have emerged this week of the fun outing she took 15-year-old Zahara and 11-year-old Vivienne: Cirque du Soleil's touring show, Volta (open in new tab). We took the girls to the Los Angeles show.

Their mother is Angelina Jolie. Paola Fraschini, the star of the show, shared snaps of Jolie, Zahara, and Vivienne with everyone and said, "OK... I never thought I'd see Angelina Jolie! She came to see the show... What a beautiful soul...?"

.

Jolie attended the show wearing what appeared to be a black slip dress and trench. Zahara was also in black and Vivienne wore a white hoodie.

Jolie made several red carpet appearances with her children last year to promote Maleficent: Queen of Evil. Vivienne, her twin brother Knox, Zahara, and Shylo attended the London premiere with their mother. Jolie speaks candidly about how raising Zahara, Shilo, Vivian, Knox, Maddox, and Pax has changed her. She told "Extra" (opens in new tab) in October that as they grew up and became teenagers, she was able to rediscover a part of herself while being around them.

"When kids get to a certain age," she began, "you want to take them through phases and make sure they are safe and understand certain values.

"And you want to make sure they get a lot done, that they feel good, that they know joy.

"When they're little, it comes in waves, but when they get older, they want to know you because they need to survive life and all of life's hardships. So we don't just teach them how to survive, we teach them how to grow and manage it."
