Selena Gomez Says Some Days She'll Be "Alone Forever"

Selena Gomez appeared on the latest episode of Genius' YouTube series "Verified" to discuss the meaning behind her recent single "Rare." She then spoke candidly about her romantic history and her hopes for the future, admitting, "There are days when I wake up and I'm frustrated and I think, 'I'm alone forever.'"

Thankfully, Gomez continued, "I'm not." But after those 15 minutes pass, I say to myself." I know there is someone out there for everyone. I have no doubt at all, Serena, that there is someone out there for you.

Gomez revealed (open in new tab) that "Rare" is about asserting one's worth in a relationship and was inspired by her experience of manipulation. 'I think men and women, especially teenagers and young people in love, do that. They get satisfaction from hurting someone because they know they care about them." It's like holding that person back from realizing, "I'm strong enough to get out of this situation.

"So this is kind of a perfect stance," Gomez said of singles." I am not going to beg you and I am not going to make you cry. I'm not getting enough from you and you obviously don't realize I'm hard to find."
