Meghan Markle sneaks into her last private event at Buckingham Palace

After Meghan Markle's final series of events in the United Kingdom before she and Prince Harry transition from their senior positions in the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex left the country hours after their last engagement Monday (opens in new tab) to return to the couple's 10-month-old son Archie in Canada

Both Harper's Bazaar (opens in new tab) and The Telegraph (opens in new tab) report that Meghan flew out of England on Monday after the Commonwealth Day service. Harry remained in England to attend more meetings at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. As of Thursday morning, it was not reported that Harry had left the UK for Canada.

Royal reporter Omid Scobie, who attended Meghan's private meeting with Commonwealth University Association scholars (opens in new tab) before the Commonwealth Day service, wrote that Meghan said goodbye to her staff at the event. (The event was reportedly for Meghan to hear about their work envisioning solutions to climate and environmental change, sustainable cities, health innovation, and the impact of technology on the economy and jobs.)

"The Duchess of Sussex emotionally (said goodbye) to her much-loved entourage as her "return" flight to Canada left in a matter of hours," he wrote of Monday's gathering for Harper's Bazaar (opens in new tab). She returned to Canada on the last commercial flight of the day, eager to be back on Vancouver Island by the morning before Archie wakes up," he later added.

ELLE understands that due to Archie's busy schedule, he remained on Vancouver Island, where the Sussexes lived during the couple's last trip to England (opens in new tab).

Meghan shared a couple more details about Archie during the UK event. Last week, at the Endeavor Fund Awards, her first joint event with Harry, Meghan told attendee Claire Spencer that Archie is "into everything" (opens in new tab) these days.

And at her final solo event at Robert Crack Upper School in Dagenham, Essex, east of London (opens in new tab), Meghan spoke a bit more about Archie, who is reaching a major milestone, and its impact on her life. The Duchess revealed that Archie "started trying to walk" and that "Archie changed my life."

The couple has kept Archie's life quite private. Archie's last photograph was published on New Year's Eve.
