Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson return to LA from coronavirus quarantine

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (open in new tab) are back in the United States and looking happy and healthy.

The famous couple was spotted in Los Angeles on Friday upon their return to the U.S. after being quarantined in Australia (opens in new tab) after testing positive for the coronavirus earlier this month. In a photo that has gone viral online (which can be seen here (opens in new tab)), Hanks and Wilson are smiling in the SUV that Hanks is driving.

It has been almost two and a half weeks since Hanks announced that he and his wife had tested positive for the virus (opens in new tab) and would be quarantined in Australia, where they were shooting a movie at the time.

"We were a little tired, kind of like having a cold. Rita had chills on and off. She also had a slight fever. To play things right, as is needed in the world now, we were tested for the coronavirus and found positive," the actor wrote in a March 11 post." Now, here we go. What to do next' There are protocols that medical professionals must follow. We hunks will be examined, observed, and quarantined for as long as public health and safety requires. What could be better than a day-by-day approach?"

On March 22, eleven days after news of his diagnosis broke, Hanks reported that he and Wilson were feeling better. Hanks also called on his fans to self-isolate and socially distance themselves in order to slow the spread of the virus.

"Ladies and gentlemen. It's been two weeks since the first symptoms and we (Rita Wilson) are feeling better," Hanks wrote on Facebook.

"Shelter in place is this: no one gets it. We don't take from anyone. Common sense dictates that it will take a while, but we will help each other, help what we can, and if we give up our comfort ....... We'll figure it out."

As usual, Tom Hanks totally nailed it (opens in new tab).
