Prince Harry may lose his royal title if he becomes an American citizen.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) officially retain the title of "HRH" (opens in new tab), even though they have agreed not to use it anymore after their royal exit. However, Harry's title (opens in new tab) may be in jeopardy as the Sussexes appear to have begun the process of settling in Los Angeles (opens in new tab).

This issue arises if Harry decides to apply for U.S. citizenship (opens in new tab). As The Sun (opens in new tab) points out, there is a US law that requires those who wish to become naturalized to renounce their foreign titles. The pertinent section of this law is found in subsection (b) of 8 USC section 1448:

Interestingly, Meghan Markle (open in new tab) is allowed to retain her title under US law. While the Constitution prohibits the U.S. government from granting titles of nobility, it does not prohibit citizens from receiving titles from foreign governments. An amendment was proposed, but never ratified, that would have required citizens receiving foreign titles to renounce their U.S. citizenship (opens in new tab).

Of course, because Meghan's royal title (opens in new tab) is directly tied to Harry's royal title, if Harry were to renounce his royal title, Meghan's royal title would almost certainly join Harry's royal title. However, Harry will only face these complications if he applies for citizenship. If he chooses to maintain his permanent residency (open in new tab) (commonly known as obtaining a "green card"), he is not obligated to relinquish his royal title and can live in the United States indefinitely.
