President Trump Says U.S. Will Not Fund Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Los Angeles Security

News broke last week that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (open in new tab) had moved from Vancouver Island, Canada, to Los Angeles before the Canada-U.S. border was closed due to a coronavirus outbreak. The couple is reportedly living in a "secluded mansion" in Los Angeles, Meghan's hometown and the home of her mother, social worker and yoga instructor Doria Ragland.

On Twitter, Donald Trump responded to the move by declaring that the U.S. would not fund the Sussexes' security detail in L.A." After leaving the U.K., Harry and Meghan were reportedly going to live permanently in Canada. But the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!"

But in the end, Meghan and Harry did not seem to be swayed by Trump's message. In a statement to The Guardian (opens in new tab), a royal spokesperson said, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to seek security resources from the US government. We are arranging security at our own expense." The tweet seemed superfluous!
