Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's (opens in new tab) decision to step down from their roles as active senior royals (opens in new tab) was widely considered a bombshell, but perhaps it should not have been.

A newly released clip by the Daily Mail (opens in new tab) shows Harry and Meghan gloating about their new home in California (opens in new tab) more than a year before their big move.

After the royal abdication at the end of March, Harry and Meghan reportedly moved from a rental house on Vancouver Island, Canada (opens in new tab) to a rental house in Malibu, California (opens in new tab), which the Daily Mail which the Daily Mail describes as a "$20 million mansion.

Footage from the couple's February 2019 visit to the Empire Fighting Chance club in Bristol shows Harry and Meghan interacting with a local who told the Sussexes that he was born in California (opens in new tab).

In the clip, the man in question calls California "the best," and Harry and Meghan smile and giggle (open in new tab) and nod in agreement. Harry took it a step further and agreed, mouthing the words, "It's the best."
