With hair salons a distant memory of the past and boredom looming, who hasn't thought about a DIY hair makeover: Hilary Duff has gone from typical blonde waves to a turquoise blue bob. And I love it!

Duff did not say whether she actually dyed her hair or chose a wig, but simply captioned her Instagram post, "I did it." In a subsequent Instagram story, however, the turquoise blue shade was still there, though a bit less vibrant than before. In "my hunch," Duff used a semi-permanent hair color to make it blue.

If you too are thinking of changing or refreshing your color at home, it is wise to follow Duff's lead, according to celebrity hair colorist Nikki Lee. Lee told Marie Claire (opens in new tab), "Permanent color can be difficult to remove if you make the wrong choice at home." Semi-permanent color is the safest bet because it will eventually wash out over time." As for Bob, it's not even clear if the cut is an at-home job. Duff had longer hair (open in new tab) in a recent post (open in new tab), but that may have been due to extensions. Either way, I am a fan!
