Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez are "not friends" anymore.

We all know that friendships have their ups and downs, but celebrities are just as likely to experience breakups with their best friends as we are. h (opens in new tab)arper's BAZAAR's (opens in new tab) May 2020 issue, with Demi Lovato on the cover, opened up about her music, recovery from overdose, and friendships. Asked if she still keeps in touch with people like the Jonas Brothers, she shook her head and revealed that she only talks to Miley Cyrus. 'She's great, I love her to death and always will. But I think she's the only one from that era that I still keep in touch with," Lovato said.

Of course, this conversation also paved the way to discuss Selena Gomez. As recently as January 2020, Gomez posted a supportive reaction to Lovato's Grammy performance (open in new tab) on her Instagram Stories.

But on the subject, Lovato told Harper's BAZAAR, "When you grow up with someone, you always have love for them. But I felt that way because I wasn't friends with her ... I always have love for her and I wish everyone the best."

I'll leave this quote for you to dissect, but it seems the two no longer communicate directly with each other. The last time Lovato and Gomez were photographed together in public was at an event in 2017:

Their history as friends dates back to 2002, when Lovato and Gomez first met when they were both auditioning for Barney & Friends, We became fast friends." Some kids get along with other kids, and the two of them really hit it off. They were pretty inseparable, having lunch together and things like that," director Fred Holmes said in a 2017 interview (opens in new tab).

Over the years, however, Lovato and Gomez's relationship has experienced some ups and downs (opens in new tab) (they became estranged around 2010, then rekindled their friendship, but unfollowed each other on social media in 2014)-and for now, the duo is back not seem to be in contact.
