One of the best parts of the virtual One World: Together at Home "The best part of the charity concert was, by far, music icon Taylor Swift. It was truly thrilling to watch her sing and perform in front of some of the most gorgeous wallpaper I've ever seen. (Open in new tab) But not only did she sing the song, she performed it live for a benefit honoring those suffering from and supporting the COVID-19 pandemic.

In case you're wondering, this is one of Swift's most personal songs (opens in new tab) (and perhaps the saddest) from "Lover". The original song features the Dixie Chicks. The song is an ode to her mother's battle with cancer and is her most personal song about her thoughts about cancer. She has said that writing the song was one of the hardest things she has ever done, and that she struggles to even hear it, much less perform it. Fans thought they would never hear this song live.

The lyrics are heartbreaking. Here's part of it: "The buttons of my coat got tangled in my hair. In the lights of the infirmary, I never said I was afraid... That was the first time. Holy orange bottle, every night I pray to you. Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus, too." And later, "I hate that it's all about me, but who am I going to talk to?" "What would I do without you?" (tears)

Swift fans informed the world that this was apparently the first time she had performed the song (open in new tab). Fans were further amazed at her vulnerability in understanding what the audience (and the world) needed and choosing this moment to share this song with the world, even though it was obviously very painful for her. She was somber throughout and even tearful at one point, but she came through it like an absolute champion.
