Royal Chef Serves Queen Elizabeth's Birthday with Queen-Themed Cupcakes

Today is a glorious day for Queen Elizabeth as she turns 94 (and from her recent address to the nation (opens in new tab), she looks as good as ever). This year, the Queen and Prince Philip are under house arrest in Windsor due to a coronavirus outbreak. The Royal Family has released a rare private video of the Queen's childhood. This time it's about a literal treat: chocolate cupcakes with a recipe from The Royal Pastry Chefs. And it's Queen-themed. Yes, they are as pretty as you can imagine.

Click here for the full recipe (opens in a new tab). The chefs also offer variations on the recipe in case you want to add different elements to the basic version. It is well known that the Queen loves chocolate (opens in new tab), especially dark chocolate (opens in new tab). The Royal Family on Twitter encourages people to create their own creations and tag them with #royalbakes, which I think will inspire "nailed it" memes (opens in new tab) (memes of baking fiascos) as well as inspire great creations! ...

How cute. ALSO: I'd pay good money to see the Queen trying to grace a cupcake (impossible in my experience):

Seriously, someone posted a cupcake in the shape of the Queen's hat in this thread. This isn't the first time the Royal Family has encouraged us with #royalbakes, so I'm assuming this is an earlier piece, but no less magnificent. Magnificent:

A group get together is still pending, so these glorious treats would make an absolutely perfect baking challenge for the weekend.

Let's do it, people. Let's make and eat cupcakes in honor of the Queen.
