Sheena Yaitanes masters the zoom look
Welcome to Beauty Around the Clock, Marie Claire's weekly peek into the daily lives of the most influential women in their industries. How do these women manage to get through the day's work?
L.A.-based Sheena Yaitanes is the founder and CEO of clean beauty darling Causus, which launched its brand in 2015 with the goal of revolutionizing color cosmetics. Today, the brand has become the natural cosmetics of choice, and Yaitanes is just getting started. Here are 24 hours in her world.
Eight hours of sleep is optimal for me and typical for most of the time. I check my phone as soon as I wake up. Breakfast is usually coffee with hemp milk and gluten-free granola cereal.
I spend about 20 minutes in the shower, dressing, skin care, and hair and makeup. I use a lot of face oils. My favorite is from Flora & Bust (open in new tab). As for my hair, I wash it every 3 or 4 days. My roots are a little frizzy. When not washed, I use a flat iron to create waves.
Center part, strong eyebrows, dewy bronzed skin, minimal neutral lips. My best zoom hack is a clear lip gloss. I use Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss in Jellyfish (opens in new tab).
I have always loved makeup and always wanted to share my discerning opinions on color with others. I felt that the brands I was looking at had too many color options. That was my real beginning; if there were 100 lipsticks, 99 of them would become unattractive as soon as I applied them. This is obviously not what you want from your makeup. Otherwise, you shouldn't wear it. I had a vision of makeup that was easy to navigate and it started there.
I have dedicated my life to therapy. I read a lot of books, hang out with friends, and love vinyasa yoga. Given the current world situation, I am generally lax in my expectations of myself.
I don't use the essence of Vintner's Daughter (opens in new tab) every day, but I love having it as my weapon.
Gap pajamas! Wearing matching pajamas makes me feel like I have a sense of ownership in my life.
I wash my face for 5-10 minutes, then put on toner and face oil. On my wrists I apply vetiver oil or True Botanicals Stress Relief (opens in new tab).
Around 11:30 p.m., arrange pillows and put on Friends.
