Psychology student mentored by Meghan Markle through "SmartWorks" gets job

Earlier this month, Smart Works, a British charity that provides clothing and interview guidance to unemployed women, revealed that Meghan Markle made a video call to one of its clients to support her before a job interview. Meghan, a patron of Smart Works, spoke to the young psychology student before her internship interview and told her, "I think you're going to be great."

The Duchess of Sussex turned out to be a pretty good mentor: on Tuesday, Smart Works revealed (opens in new tab) that its client had won the internship. "Thank you again not only for this opportunity, but also for the great work that Smart Works is accomplishing." It was truly an honor to be a part of this!"

Smart Works released a clip (opens in new tab) of the March 27 video call on Instagram last week. He said, "They seem incredibly confident and ready to go. I know everyone here is very excited," Meghan told the women." I was reading about what your interests are, and you have a big interest in mental health in particular? Psychology' I think that's wonderful."

A SmartWorks client explained why she wanted the internship: "I enjoy learning about psychology at A-level, but I am really interested in seeing how psychology is applied in the workplace.

"I think you're going to be great," said Meghan, calling her a "beacon of hope."

The Smart Works client was beaming throughout the call and told Princess Meghan, " Thank you so much for making this possible through Smart Works and because of your support for empowering women to do this."

Princess Meghan responded '"It is a pleasure to support them. I get to see how amazing they are doing and how many people they are helping. I am truly proud to be their patron, but it is easy to say yes when you have such amazing women helping you."
