Princess Diana's former butler, Prince Harry, thinks he married Meghan because she looks like Diana.

If you sense a hint of Princess Diana in Meghan Markle (open in new tab), you're not alone. According to Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell (open in new tab), Meghan has a lot in common with Princess Diana, which he believes may have attracted Prince Harry (open in new tab).

"Harry wanted Meghan and married her because she looks like Diana," Burrell reportedly said in an interview with Closer magazine (opens in new tab). They are both women who always stand up for what they believe in and are no pushovers."

Despite Burrell's belief that Meghan and Diana are similar (open in new tab) women, she also said that if they had had the opportunity to meet, the similarities could have caused some problems between them.

"I think they probably would have clashed. It would have been a battle between Princess Meghan's way and Princess Diana's way."

Burrell, who worked for Princess Diana for 10 years until her tragic death in 1997 (opens in new tab), of course does not believe that Meghan is a copy of Princess Diana. He said he thinks Princess Meghan is more media savvy than Princess Diana. Diana had to learn to find her voice in the media, he said.

"I think the main difference between them is that Princess Meghan has a game plan whereas Diana was young and naive," he added.

"Princess Diana wrote the book with Andrew Morton and spent years working with the press. Diana wrote a book with Andrew Morton and lobbied the press for years.

Meghan and Harry's journey from senior royal couple to low-key LA family will be outlined in the forthcoming book Finding Freedom (opens in new tab). The book is said to portray "the real Harry and Meghan" and will be released on August 11.
