Scottie Pippen's son, Scottie Pippen Jr. follows in his father's footsteps

Every Sunday night for the past few weeks I have been sitting in front of the TV watching ESPN. This is not a regular occurrence for me, more often than not, I get into the infamous reality show (opens in new tab) or try to catch up on Netflix's hottest shows (opens in new tab). As you probably know by now, I got into this hobby because of the documentary series The Last Dance. It's a glorious 10-part series about Michael Jordan's last championship season with the Chicago Bulls in 1997-98.

Sure, the documentary has a heap of commentary (open in new tab) with Jordan sitting in a chair in a house that is not his (open in new tab), but I'm here to talk about the one and only Scottie Pippen. Yes, the man Jordan mentions in the documentary as one of the main reasons (open in new tab) the Bulls have been so successful.

Now off the court for some time, Pippen is the father of seven children. Like many viewers of The Last Dance, I wanted to know who, if any, of Pippen's children had the same love for the game as their father. Not surprisingly, Pippen's 19-year-old son, Scottie Pippen Jr. plays basketball at Vanderbilt University. Prior to that, he played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles, where the Los Angeles Times (open in new tab) named him to the All-Area team.

He announced that he will be playing college in Nashville in January 2019, and this news made everyone proud. Especially his father!

He also had offers from Washington State, Colorado State, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Davis. He said, "I chose UC Davis because I have a good relationship with the coaches. I chose them because I had a good relationship with the coaches. (Open in new tab) "I think they are a good fit for me academically and athletically. I feel like they needed me at the point guard position."

.

Speaking of coaches, Vanderbilt coach Bryce Drew was with the Houston Rockets in 1998-99 with Pippen. So this is like the coolest reunion/crossover episode ever.

The Last Dance (opens in new tab) airs Sundays at 9 pm on ESPN.
