Read MoreMeghan Markle and Prince Harry, like many in the United States, spent Memorial Day weekend soaking up the sun, sitting poolside with family, and ...... spent it spotting a small drone flying just a few feet above their heads. Now, most families didn't have to face that last problem, but Megan and Harry did. In a horrific invasion of privacy on Memorial Day, it was reported that a drone was flying just 20 feet above their residence in LA, capturing footage of a small family gathering. The "worst part" is that this was not the first time. [According to the Daily Beast (opens in new tab), at least five drone-related incidents have been reported on the LAPD's non-emergency line created by the couple. The incidents occurred at their home on May 9, 19, 20, 21, and 25, and were all reported to authorities. According to an LAPD spokesperson, the report of the Memorial Day attack stated that "a drone was flying over the residence" and that it is an "ongoing drone issue."
The drones are believed to be controlled by paparazzi, who most recently took photos of Archie and a couple relaxing by the pool on Memorial Day (opens in new tab) and videotaped the former royal outside with his dog. Despite the paparazzi's assumption that they are operating the drone, the royal couple must treat the drone as a potential terror threat, sources close to the couple told The Daily Beast.
"They see these drones coming at them and assume that the photographers are operating them, but they can't assume that," the friend said.
"Princess Meghan received racist death threats during her wedding.
After all, people can buy a drone for under $1,000 and take and record photos of their families without registering it with the FAA (opens in new tab), and the footage is transmitted to their cell phones in minutes. (Why they don't use their new toy to create a viral TikTok (opens in new tab) instead of invading people's privacy is beyond me.)
The friend continued to the publisher: "Imagine how you would feel if you were in their shoes! Imagine how you would feel if you were in their shoes.
According to The Sun (opens in new tab), the couple is currently in the process of hiring their own security team. They are currently using security staff working at the mansion where they are staying, owned by Tyler Perry (opens in new tab).
