The Queen's youngest grandchildren, Louise and James, will have to get regular jobs.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, said her two children, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount James Severn, are unlikely to become active royalty when they come of age. Louise and James are the children of the queen's youngest son, Prince Edward, and the queen's youngest grandchildren, aged 16 and 12 (opens in new tab).

Sophie told The Sunday Times, "We are trying to raise them with the understanding that they are very likely to have to work for a living," adding, "That is why we have made the decision not to use the HRH title; we could use it from age 18 We could, but I don't think that's very likely."

Sophie and Edward were asked how they were giving their children a "normal life," to which they replied, "What is normal? They attend a normal school (they both attend private schools, the Times noted). On weekends, we walk our dog or stay at a friend's house."

"I don't think all people's grandparents live in castles, but it doesn't matter where they go or who they are," Sophie continued. When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother."
