Royal Family Shares Rare Photos of the Queen, Prince Philip, and Prince Charles

On Wednesday, in celebration of Prince Philip's 99th birthday (opens in new tab), the Royal Family released a series of photos on Instagram depicting the life of the Duke of Edinburgh. In the first photo, a young Prince Philip and the Queen smile and pose with their eldest son, Prince Charles. According to Getty, the photos are undated but were likely taken around 1949, since Prince Charles was born in November 1948.

The royal family also released a photo from the 1953 coronation of Elizabeth II, along with other snapshots from the Queen and Philip's life together:

Meanwhile, on their official Instagram account, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles posted a photo of young Prince Charles and father on a boat and shared a recent photo of father and son:

Unfortunately, Philip will not be celebrating his 99th birthday with his children because of the ongoing coronavirus blockade. 'Well, I haven't seen my father in a long time,' Charles told Sky News. 'He's turning 99 next week. He's on FaceTime, which is great. ......"

"I really want to give everyone a hug," Charles said.
