People across the country are calling for further investigation into the death of Robert Fuller (opens in new tab). The 24-year-old was found hanging from a tree in Palmdale, about six miles north of Los Angeles, on Monday.

City officials initially described Fuller's death as a "suspected suicide," but that angered Fuller's family and community members, who called for further investigation and an independent autopsy.

"The City of Palmdale agrees with the family and community's call for justice and supports a full investigation into his death," the city said in a statement. According to the Los Angeles Times (opens in new tab), Mayor J.J. Murphy overturned a release issued Thursday that ruled the death a suicide.

Many believe that local authorities are too quick to rule the death a suicide, and that Fuller (opens in new tab), whose friends and family are adamant that it was not suicide, was likely murdered.

Several celebrities have joined in calling for justice for Fuller, including Viola Davis (open in new tab), Kim Kardashian (open in new tab), and Jameela Jamil (open in new tab).

"#RobertFuller was murdered in Palmdale, CA," Davis wrote on Instagram. 'Fuller was found hanging from a tree in front of Palmdale City Hall on Wednesday morning (June 10, 2020). Please urge city officials to investigate Robert Fuller's death. Please do not let his death go unnoticed."

Kim Kardashian shared a link on Twitter to a petition calling for further investigation into Fuller's death, writing, "Robert Fuller was found hanging dead from a tree in front of Palmdale City Hall on June 10, 2020. Please sign this petition #JusticeforRobertFuller to demand a thorough and proper investigation."

In her tweet, Jamil pulled no punches and wrote, "This young man is Robert Fuller. He was found hanging from a tree in California yesterday. The police are saying it was suicide. We're all bullshitting.
