Will Laura die in "365 Days of Doni"?

Spoilers ahead for "365 Days of Donnie". One of the most popular movies on Netflix right now? It's the Polish erotic drama film 365Dni (365 Days). And boy, do I have a lot of questions! If you haven't seen this movie yet, prepare yourself for two hours of pure, chaotic bliss, filled with hot sex scenes (opens in a new tab), questionable wig choices, and a story so crazy it's almost too crazy. The film is based on the Polish trilogy by Branka Lipinska (opens in new tab) and features a Polish woman named Laura (Anna Maria Szykrzycka).

The plot goes like this: Anna is kidnapped by Sicilian mobster Massimo (Michele Morrone), and Massimo gives Anna one year to fall in love with him. In other words, it's a perfectly healthy relationship! The ending of the film leaves us with a pretty big cliffhanger: after shopping for a wedding dress, newly pregnant Laura and her best friend Olga (Magdalena Lamparska) are about to return to Massimo's house when Massimo's right-hand man Mario (Bronislaw Wroclawski) s assassination attempt.

Everyone tries to contact him to get out of the car, but Laura enters a tunnel and her cell phone goes dead. The next shot is of that very tunnel, with a police car parked outside the tunnel, and then the screen cuts to black. (I screamed for three minutes.) So what happens next?" thankfully, all three volumes of the trilogy have been released, offering a literary glimpse into Laura's fate.

Shocker: The hero lives! According to the second book in the series, Ten DziƩn ("This Day"), the book begins where "365 Dni" ended. It begins with Massimo learning that Laura is pregnant. The two try to leave the past behind, start a family, and get married, but face an obstacle: Laura is kidnapped by a man named Marcelo "Nacho" Matos. Naturally, because she is human and has a touch of Stockholm Syndrome, she "falls in love" with her latest kidnapper, establishing the love triangle in this trilogy.

The book ends with Massimo's attempt to rescue Laura when she is shot and he decides whether to save her or save the baby. It is also revealed that Massimo has an evil twin and that he is British. I'd like to go into how that is possible, but that's a story for another day. [The sequel to "365 Dni" is another film that had to be canceled due to the coronavirus; according to Newsweek (opens in new tab), Anna Maria Sikulucca and Magdalena Lamparska's Instagram Live, a sequel to "365 Dni" was Production was supposed to begin in Sicily.

The film may look a little different now due to COVID-19 precautions, but we'll stop thinking about that now. Instead, as I wait for the sequel, I'm going to watch Massimo's "Are you lost, baby girl? Or rewatch the yacht scene. Who knows!
