Jessica Mulroney's Husband Ben Leaves Etalk: "My Privileges Are Much Helped"

Jessica Mulroney's husband, Ben Mulroney, has made the decision to leave his 18-year job at CTV's Etalk. His decision comes after Jessica Mulroney was accused of using her "textbook white privilege" to threaten the career of lifestyle writer Sasha Exeter. (Open in new tab)

Ben announced on Your Morning that he cannot speak for his wife, but admits that his privilege has been a plus for his career:

"I love my wife. But I cannot speak for her. And today we commit to working together to learn and understand more about anti-Black racism, and to learn and understand more about our blind spots." What does this mean for me? And while I have certainly worked hard to build my career, I know that systemic racism and injustice help people like me and hurt those who are not like me, often in ways we cannot see. This needs to change."

Ben called for "more black voices, more indigenous voices, more voices of color in the media, as in every other profession," and announced that he was leaving his job "immediately."

"It is my hope that its new anchors, be they black, indigenous, or people of color, can use this important platform to inspire, lead, and make a difference. I am proud of Etalk and everyone involved with CTV and I know they will continue to demonstrate the excellence that has made that show and this network No. 1.

Apparently, Ben will continue to host red carpet events and co-host Your Morning. Meanwhile, Jessica's show "I Do, Redo" has been pulled by CTV, and she is no longer on "Good Morning America" after she tried to use her influence and white privilege against Sasha Exeter. The lifestyle writer discussed her experience with Jessica in an Instagram video, explaining that she threatened her career when Sasha asked her peers, including Jessica, to use their platform to support the "Black Lives" movement (new tab).

Jessica later posted a public apology.
