Amy Schumer Talks Relationships in Exclusive Clip from HBO Max's "Expecting Amy"
Amy Schumer is famous for exposing herself in her wildly funny comedy (opens in new tab). But her latest project for HBO Max (opens in new tab) may change that reputation: a three-part documentary coming to the streaming service on July 9 will show the comedian as never before. According to a press release, the special will be "like Jerry Seinfeld's film 'Comedian' if he was pregnant," and will offer a raw look at Schumer's life.
The documentary, directed by Alexander Hammer, who previously worked on Homecoming: The Beyoncé Movie, and produced by Schumer, is directed by Schumer's son (opens in new tab) The film details her pregnancy with Gene David Fischer, and the process of creating a comedy show she may or may not play; the HBO Max show will also focus on her marriage to husband Chris Fischer and his journey through being diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
Marie Claire premiered the documentary in this exclusive clip. In it, Schumer and Fisher talk about their relationship with each other and how it changed during their pregnancy.
"It's tough being in a relationship, especially when you're alone for so long. She continues, " I love him more than I ever thought I could love anyone."
Schumer and Fisher first tied the knot in the fall of 2017. They met when Molly, Schumer's personal assistant (opens in new tab), invited her chef brother to cook dinner one night at Schumer's vacation home on Martha's Vineyard; they hit it off, and just a few months later, in February 2018, in Malibu, California They were married in a private ceremony.
The couple announced they were expecting a child in October of that year. During her pregnancy, the comedian suffered the effects of hyperemesis gravidarum (acute morning sickness) and was even hospitalized (opens in new tab). Since Jean's birth, Schumer has been very open (opens in new tab) on social media about her IVF journey, revealing that she and her husband are freezing their eggs in case they want more children in the future.
All three episodes of "Expecting Amy" will stream on HBO Max on Thursday, July 9. Watch an exclusive clip below.
