Promises

Using only the most precious natural fragrance ingredients, Harmonist walks the line between fancy and enduring practicality. Each bottle evokes a sense of mysticism, but is also refillable and opaque to protect the stability of the fragrance. And while all of the brand's perfumes are meant to smell good, they are also designed to bring balance and calm to life. The newest addition, Moon Glory, is a floral perfume. But it's a type of floral you've never imagined before.

When you think of florals, sweet garden notes may come to mind. This is because this category has become synonymous with words like "feminine," "summery," and "delicate." This perfume defies those assumptions with notes like Hawaiian jasmine, queen of the night flower, passion flower, ylang-ylang, lychee, honey, and musk. Upon first application, the perfume radiates a subtle sweetness. When worn, a citrusy, salty honey scent takes over.

Why I'm hooked

Scent is said to have a very strong connection to memory, and this perfume does a unique job of creating new memories for me. When I wear this perfume, I suddenly remember one night: I'm walking down a forest path at night, illuminated by a bolt of lightning. Perhaps there is a handsome stranger strolling next to me. We come upon a stream, where a wood nymph asks me to solve a riddle. There are fairies here, too.

Part of the magic this product evokes has to do with the bottle and the name. This perfume would look better in a sorcerer's hut than on my vanity, but I'm not complaining. In this day and age, escape has become as necessary as therapy. Moon Glory instills a sense of calm as soon as you put it on, as it evokes a strong image of gratitude for nature and finding comfort in the enduring stability of moonlight.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, this perfume changed my opinion of floral scents. Moonglory really surprised me in the best way: it is fresh and vegetal, but never too sweet or girly. Now, when asked about my perfume preferences, I answer: 'I like floral perfumes like Moon Glory.'
