Target has made it easier to support black-owned brands online.
In response to the "Black Lives Matter" protests this spring and summer, large corporations across the United States are implementing new initiatives to support the black community. (Opens in new tab) The latest comes from Target: the company has posted a badge on its website that identifies brands that are black-owned (opens in new tab) or have black founders. The badges will be placed in the "At a Glance" section of product detail pages. Clean, Vegan, and Cruelty-Free badges are also featured in this section as product identifiers.
Bevel, Iman Cosmetics, Jane Carter Solution, TPH by TARAJI (opens in new tab), The Honey Pot, The Lip Bar, and Black Girl Sunscreen are all currently sold at Target by Black owned brands currently sold at Target. In a statement, the retailer explained that its decision to unveil the new badges is in response to feedback it received from customers. It is "to help customers find and support black-owned brands and founders when they shop online.
This new feature will simplify the shopping experience by making it easier to discover new brands and find and shop for their favorite black-owned brands.
