Celebrity Reactions to Kamala Harris' Vice Presidential Announcement
On Tuesday, Joe Biden announced the nomination of Kamala Harris as his Democratic presidential running mate (open in new tab). With her nomination as vice presidential candidate, Harris becomes the first black woman and the first South Asian woman ever to be a major party presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, actress/writer/showrunner Mindy Kaling shared several emotional social media posts about what it means for women of color to be on the presidential ticket. (Kaling has long been said to have named a character on her Netflix show "Never Have I Ever" after Harris.)

Former President Barack Obama also congratulated Harris on Twitter, writing, "This is a good day for our country."
Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also praised Harris on Twitter.
"Thrilled to welcome @KamalaHarris to the historic Democratic ticket. She has already proven herself to be a great public servant and leader. And she will be a strong partner to Joe Biden (@JoeBiden). Please join me in supporting her and getting her elected," Clinton wrote.
