Adria Arjona, serious about self-care

Welcome to Beauty Around the Clock, Marie Claire's weekly peek into the daily lives of the most influential women in their industries. How do these women manage to get through the day's work?

The 28-year-old rising star has made a splash with HBO's True Detective (opens in new tab) and Michael Bay's Netflix movie 6 Underground (opens in new tab). Next up is a spotlight on the campaign for Armani's new carbon-neutral and sustainable fragrance "My Way" (opens in new tab), and the upcoming Marvel movie "Morbius" starring Jared Leto. Here, he talks about a day of self-care, including celery juice, ice massages, and meditation.

If I don't have to work, I get up around 8 am. After brushing my teeth, I run to the kitchen to make celery juice and brew coffee. He likes to be alone in the morning and takes an hour to himself even when he is at work. I meditate or read the Morning Pages (opens in new tab). Then, an hour later, I pick up my phone for the first time and begin to see what's going on in the world.

I consider celery juice and an hour to myself part of my beauty regimen. Beyond that, I usually just ice my face. I ice my face. I feel like my face tightens up and the ice gets the circulation back to my face. Then I spray my face with Mario Badescu's Rosewater Spray (opens in new tab) to freshen it up. I love the scent. Finally, I apply sunscreen.

I do a lot of running and HIIT workouts. But I usually do boxing. It's like letting it all out and leaving it in the bag.

After my workout, I drink a shake with chia, ground flaxseed, maca powder, vital protein (open in new tab), and blueberries.

I shower twice a day. I am an on and off type of person to conserve water. Living in California, I can't take a bath every day. I mean, I could, but I would be a huge asshole. A bath for me is a moment, and I light candles and decorate the whole place. I add bath salts, lavender and essential oils. And I read a good book. I read a lot of Haruki Murakami's "Men Without Women" and I've already read "Letters to a Young Poet" twice during my quarantine.

Except during premieres and big events, I spend my time very naturally. But on Saturdays and Sundays during quarantine, I keep it sassy. I put on a tiny bit of mascara and a lipstick in Armani shade 400 (open in new tab).

I like clean, fresh scents, not woody scents. Armani My Way (opens in new tab) is a warm, comforting scent, and is an everyday perfume. I like to wear it on my wrists, behind my ears, and a dab in my hair. That way, when I go to greet someone, they can smell it.

Beyonce, Whitney Houston, and Selena. Those are my three girls, and they are always on repeat. One shot of tequila and forget about it.

My nighttime routine takes much longer than my morning routine. I cleanse my face with Emma Hardy Moringa Cleansing Balm (opens in new tab). It smells great, like my favorite orange, and removes all impurities. Then a spray of roses, Armani Crema Nera (opens in new tab), and Vintner's Daughter serum (opens in new tab). The sun is so strong in Los Angeles right now that I over-hydrate and then apply a really thin layer of oil on top of that. Then, after showering, I comb my hair and apply a leave-in conditioner and coconut oil. Before I did that, my curls were too messy in the morning.

I do a gratitude meditation and watch The Office.

Usually at midnight.
