Priyanka Chopra Jonas reveals the cover of her "unfinished" book
You vowed to spend your quarantine period turning your teenage diaries into a cohesive memoir, but you failed. On Friday, the actress gave fans a sneak peak of her upcoming memoir, Unfinished, by revealing the book's cover art.
The pensive shot clearly shows Chopra Jonas' tattoo that reads "Daddy's lil girl" in honor of her late father. Actress, producer, and activist Chopra Jonas (opens in new tab) told fans and celebrity memoir lovers (opens in new tab) that she lost her father to cancer, first in pageants, then as a beloved Bollywood star, and now She promises not to fudge any of the details of her life, including the peaks and valleys of her successful career as a Hollywood darling. And before you ask, yes, the actress is reportedly sharing on the page what life is like being married to Jo-Bro (and, more importantly, being one of the legendary J-Sisters (opens in new tab)).
"Writing this book was one of the most cathartic experiences of my life," Chopra Jonas said in a statement to Marie Claire, adding that she wrote it in four months during her COVID-19 captivity. 'I dove deep. I tried to understand how the stories in my life shaped me and explored the indelible moments that make me who I am."
According to the book's description (opens in new tab), the actress also shares her childhood experiences of moving back and forth between India and the United States and the racism she faced growing up.
"I've never been the kind of person to talk about my feelings and emotions," says the 38-year-old. 'That kind of exposure has always scared me (it's the Cancer in me). This book is a window into my soul and accurately captures so many transformative moments in my life. I am vulnerable, honest, and brazen: ...... completely myself, and I am just finally ready to share that part of who I am with the world."
The actress also gave Marie Claire magazine a behind-the-scenes look at her book cover photo shoot. (Stay tuned for the cutest cameo of Chopra Jonas' dog, Diana.) She introduced the clip, saying, "From a gangly 17-year-old teenager who couldn't imagine how her life would change to me sitting here today talking to you all, it's been one hell of a roller coaster I've been on one hell of a roller coaster ride. So I thought I should rewind time."
Chopra Jonas, who will next appear in 2022's The Matrix 4, teased her book on social media all week, sharing a two-shot with husband Nick Jonas (opens in new tab) and some clips from an old family photo album.
