The Bachelorette": Who is Zach Jackson?

The post-pandemic recasting, a particularly sketchy villain (opens in new tab), the early dismissal of several contestants, and, of course, the mid-season Bachelorette turnaround (opens in new tab) have already brought plenty of drama to Claire Crowley's "Bachelorette" season, and Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, there's another development. According to Reality Steve, things get even more confusing in the show's latest episode (Oct. 27, 8 p.m. ET, ABC), in which Crowley casts Zach J. on a one-on-one date that is expected to provoke an extreme reaction not only from viewers, but from the Bachelorette herself.

Here's what you need to know about Zach J. and the drama he'll be reeling in on national television. (Obviously, there are spoilers!)

Zach Jackson (not to be confused with Zach Clark (open in new tab)) is originally from Yakima, Washington, but now lives in St. George, Utah. He is the founder of a CBD company and a cleaning services company; according to his official ABC bio (opens in new tab), the 37-year-old is "into gum and chapstick," hates jazz music, and knows the difference between there, their, and they're. Refreshing!

Not so refreshing: He's the one who entered the show on one knee and fake-proposed to Crowley with a farting ring box.

Aside from his problematic taste in humor, Jackson's best qualities, according to Jackson, are that he is "empathetic, fun, and clever." He has apparently had a "huge crush" on Crowley ever since she was a certified badass on Juan Pablo's season of The Bachelor. Unfortunately, that dream seems to be about to crumble after just one date.

In a preview posted ahead of the October 27 episode of The Bachelorette (opens in new tab), Reality Steve predicted that Jackson and Crowley's solo date "will probably spark a lot of discussion." The date gets off to a good start with some spa time for the couple and takes a turn when they get in the pool. According to Reality Steve, "At this time, Zach acts unapologetically aggressive toward Claire, which triggers her."

In another milder vein, ABC's synopsis of the episode mentions that "Zach J. is excited about a separate spa date with Claire, but his inability to relax could end in disaster."

However you phrase it, Crawley will cut the date short early, according to Reality Steve. When she doesn't show up for the dinner portion of the date, host Chris Harrison pops by to tell Jackson "it is best that he leave." With that, Jackson is sent home with Brandon Goss and Yosef Aboladi without the rose ceremony.

Reality Steve was tight-lipped about the details of Jackson's "aggressive behavior," but he added, "I'm not sure how much of it was a big deal. Some will say it's no big deal, that Claire overreacted, and some will say it's absolutely a big deal. I don't think there is much in between." If this doesn't inspire you to clear your schedule and tune in, I don't know what will.
