With the weather in the Northeast looking like a full-blown winter, my skin is in dire need of some extra hydration. The combination of cold air and icy winds can strip the skin of its natural moisture, making a strong protective cream a must. Enter Crème Riche. It is a powerful anti-aging moisturizer made with ethically sourced natural ingredients such as maple bark, avocado peptides, and candle tree leaf extract. These ingredients pack a punch, moisturizing, plumping, and protecting the skin, leaving it youthful, glowing, and smooth.

Frankly, I think all moisturizers are made pretty much the same way. Hydration is hydration, right?" makes me glow like a disco ball (and is avoided by my boyfriend for fear of spreading stickiness - he loses!) I tend to gravitate toward super thick creams. I have a deep-seated attachment and respect for Tata Harper's products. Partly because the founder and I are Latino, and partly because my first major skincare purchase was her serum. Still, when I first opened this moisturizer, I was a bit skeptical. First, the product is a banana blended color, slightly green, slightly brown, and overall not the most attractive looking. Second, there is the scent. I am always skeptical because I usually consider anything too fragrant in skin care to be a red flag. Still, in honor of Tata, I applied this cream.

And let me tell you how wrong my first impression was. A little research online told me that I should first rub the cream in the palm of my hand before applying it to my face. To my surprise, after a quick lathering, the ingredients were "activated" and the cream developed a white color. Second, the dubious scent is due to natural ingredients, not added synthetic fragrances (plus it smells really good). And third, and perhaps most importantly, the moisturizer has the most divine velvety texture that penetrates my skin quickly and leaves a glowing sheen all day long. After a few weeks of use, I noticed that the dry patches that are common in cold weather were gone, my skin tone was more even, and the skin on my neck and cheekbones was a bit tighter and more voluptuous. Not all moisturizers are created equal. I think of Creme Riche as a green smoothie for my face.
