An Ode to All Saints' 2-in-1 Slip Dress
Let me first say that I am by no means a dress person. Maybe it's because my mother only allowed me to wear frilly skirts for the first three years of my life, but good pants have always been my staple when it comes to dressing for the office (opens in new tab). So you can imagine my surprise when an AllSaints slip dress came into my life and instantly put all pants to shame.
I came across this slip dress on a summer afternoon two years ago. As a recent college graduate (opens in new tab), I was looking for something that would make me look proper and mature, even if I wasn't quite ready to grow up yet. For the most part, I paired a simple black tank slip with a fitted, cropped, mock-neck sweater and called it a day. [A 2 in 1 slip dress, as the name implies, consists of two elements: a slip dress (naturally) and a sweater or top that can be removed and worn separately. The slip dress is cute enough to be worn alone, with a coordinating top, or with other sweaters in your closet (opens in new tab). Additionally, the sweater or t-shirt can be worn alone.
They are certainly not the least expensive items I own, but I wear them all the time. From the pink floral ones to the black and white ones. Sad for my bank account, but it doesn't look like it will slow down anytime soon.
Perfect for job interviews, weddings, or any big meeting on your calendar, these dresses really cover all your sartorial bases. Plus, with new styles coming out each season, you'll never run out of options. For example, this summer I got one in a light pink tie-dye color (opens in new tab). My sister is also obsessed with it. She now has two in her closet, one in maroon and one in dusty rose.
So much for preamble, say hello to the lazy day dressing hack (opens in new tab). And for those who need another reason to buy, almost everything is on huge sale right now. Happy shopping.
