24 hours of Maddie Ziegler
Welcome to Beauty Around the Clock, Marie Claire's weekly peek into the daily lives of the most influential women in their industries. How do these women manage to get through the day's work?
Whether she's dancing to Sia (opens in new tab) or proudly asking her fan base to vote for her, Maddie Ziegler (opens in new tab) is an undeniable talent: the 18-year-old Pittsburgh native, a Generation Z icon, wears a stunning outfit (opens in new tab), a ), her obsession with "Friends," and her playfulness with all things beauty, she is inclusive of her generation. The Dance Moms star and new face of Kate Spade's signature perfume (opens in new tab) reveals how she discovered the brand and her secrets for healthy hair and skin.
I always wake up super early. This is a recent thing. I think it's because I don't use blackout blinds now. The first thing I do is immediately take the dog outside. I used to always check my phone first, but now that I have a puppy, it's so much better to focus my time on him before I do anything else, before I check social media.
I am very particular about my skin care routine and have a very long one. I do the typical face wash, brush my teeth, all of that. I have acne-prone skin, so I try to use clean, non-abrasive products. I guess I'm kind of like a dancer, I have this fear of always smelling fresh and nice. So before I go out, and even when I'm at home, I always put on deodorant or perfume to freshen me up. It's kind of an instinct
The only time I really wear makeup is when I'm doing press or something. Because when I'm sweating at home, I tend to feel negative or depressed. So when I get my hair and makeup done, I really feel better. And while you're at it, you might as well go out and do something fun.
Growing up in competitions, my hair was always pulled, gelled, and sprayed. Now I try to treat my hair better. Hair masks like "Function of Beauty" (opens in new tab) are a lifesaver. I am a night shower person. I go to bed with product in my hair and when I wake up, that's basically it. I like natural texture more than anything, so I don't apply heat.
Rihanna's "Anti". Honestly, this album will never go out of style for me. Every day, all day long, this album is my go-to. I love her and I love her music because I feel like all of Rihanna's messages and lyrics are about that. So I love her and I love her music.
I'm really excited to be a part of the Kate Spade New York fragrance campaign. My mom fell in love with Kate Spade and then I fell in love with it. From my family and from my boyfriend. From my family and from my boyfriends. I'm not a fan of overpowering scents, but this one is the perfect mix of feminine, super floral, fruity, but not too strong. It's literally my ideal scent.
Being a dancer by profession, it's really hard to live in isolation. But I get a lot of physical therapy and really take care of myself and try to keep my body in the best shape it can be. As I get older, my body is changing and I can no longer do the tricks that I used to do when I was a little girl. I have to warm up and take care of myself. So stretching and working out at home really makes a big difference.
Weleda's Skin Food Moisturizer (opens in new tab) is my life, I buy it on Amazon, it's a great product, and it's really good for my skin. Very cheap, but better than any moisturizer I've ever used.
I always take my dog out with me. I play with them and let them vent their energy before I lay down. But every night, except for skin care, I fall asleep listening to Friends. I don't know how many times I've seen it. I fall asleep knowing that Chandler and Phoebe are talking in the background.
