On repeat: Chanel boy bag
In this bi-weekly series (opens in a new tab), we'll show you the items our editors wear repeatedly, whether it's a basic white T-shirt or a super-trendy jumpsuit. Get yourself (and your credit card) ready for guilt-free shopping.
Being a fashion girl at heart, I tend to get carried away with each and every aesthetically pleasing item that hits the runway each season. However, when trying to stick to a budget, I find myself turning to timeless clothing and accessories, while my eyes are drawn to more abstract and trendy items. As I mentioned in an earlier post in this series (opens in a new tab), I keep track of all the items currently in my closet and an ongoing list of fashion essentials in an Excel spreadsheet on my laptop (sounds very methodical, but there is a method to my madness) .
Personally, style means more than competing to get the latest and greatest fad. It's more about investing in clothes that are durable, versatile, and make you feel your best self. Because my ultimate goal is to create a closet full of timeless items. A wardrobe that is both feminine and tomboyish, a collection that can be styled in a variety of ways, and a collection that may one day be passed down to my future daughter. Reigning at the top of my wardrobe's Excel Doc and, in my mind, my favorite handbag I have ever purchased is the Chanel Boy Bag
.
This handbag is the perfect accessory for any girl who loves to dress up in a sexy dress or a smart pantsuit paired with high heels! Launched by the late Karl Lagerfeld as part of Chanel's Fall/Winter 2011 collection, the Boy Bag was inspired by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's love of incorporating masculinity into her style, and the handbag's name is Coco Chanel's first love and the name is a tribute to her first love, Boy Capel.
My medium sized Boy bag is crafted in smooth all black caviar leather and comes with gold-tone metal hardware (very on-brand with my neutral tone wardrobe). Wallet, cell phone, keys, lip balm, air pod, hand sanitizer, and hand cream. This bag goes perfectly with my go-to sweat suit and sneakers style for chilly days and travel, and also serves as a standout accessory when I dress up (which has been few and far between since last March). The styling versatility of this handbag makes the hefty price tag a little unbearable.
