The program is designed to help designers take the next leap forward.
The launch has jewelry enthusiasts buzzing, and Libby Page, senior market editor at NET-A-PORTER, notes that "it is very important to help emerging designers build their businesses for long-term success." As for the designer himself, she said Mohammed has been on their radar for quite some time, adding: "KHIRY FINE offers a truly unique perspective that I'm sure our clients will resonate with. "The other hope is not just our reputation as designers, but our ability to build together."
He notes that mentorship by two black designers is a stronger fit than ever. He says, "Mateo has helped me move my business forward over the years. This is a moment of empowerment, a collaboration between black and non-black creators that can be a site of transformation. It starts here."
The collection will be available exclusively on NET-A-PORTER later this month. (Prices start at $2,500.
