Netflix's "Country Comfort" Season 2: Everything We Know

[Country Strong] is the fifth official remake of The Birth of a Star," is the hill I chose to die on.Netflix's new series "Country Comfort" (opens in new tab) is basically "The Sound of Music" set in modern-day Nashville It's set in the city. Katharine McPhee (opens in new tab) stars not as a former nun sent to tutor a wealthy family to learn how to discipline them, but as an aspiring country musician who happens to come across a family in need of a nanny, but her and Maria's stories then perfectly align: they both become mothers-to-be to their respective families' many children, fall in love with a widower's employer, and, to spoil the ending of "Country Comfort" Season 1 a bit, eventually form a lively musical group with their adopted family.

In an uncharacteristic Netflix move, the 10-episode first season of "Country Comfort" didn't actually end with a particularly wild cliffhanger (opens in new tab) or a winding season finale (opens in new tab). But fans will still want more episodes of this gentle musical sitcom. Here's what we know so far about "Country Comfort" Season 2.

Not yet, but it's early; Netflix typically waits a few weeks (or months) to gauge viewer response to each new series before announcing whether further episodes have officially received the go-ahead. After its first weekend on the streaming platform, "Country Comfort" was hovering around #9 in Netflix's top 10. While not quite the level of success experienced by recent hit shows like "Bridgerton" (open in new tab) and "The Queen's Gambit," it could be a sleeper hit, and regardless of performance, Netflix is may be determined to keep churning out episodes.

If given the go-ahead, the show's second season could appear quite soon. The first season was ordered in January 2020 and could premiere in March 2021, despite the pandemic that threatened the industry in the meantime. Between that and Hollywood's cautious return to its normal production schedule, new episodes of Country Comfort could appear on streaming broadcasts about a year after the first season airs, if not sooner.

The biggest question at the end of the first season is whether Bailey (McPhee) won the singing competition that he applied for, dropped out of, and ended up competing in with the last-minute help of his new family in the finale. If she did win, the show's next season could see Bailey accepting the competition's prize money and having a crisis about whether she should go on tour to dream of musical stardom or stay home with the children she has come to love. Or, if the judges are particularly impressed with Bailey and the kids' overall performance, we might see them pack their bags and go on tour as a family band like the Von Trapp family. [Season 2 will also likely deal with the love triangle between Bailey, her employer Bo (Eddie Cibrian), and his girlfriend Summer (Janet Varney). Summer seemed to be beginning to doubt Bailey and Bo's bond as she shared Bo's love for his children.

Beyond that, what we can really hope for in Season 2 of "Country Comfort" is more music-inspired episode names, more cameos from LeeAnn Rimes (she's literally married to the star of the show, It shouldn't be that hard), and no more mention of the storm of broken promises and terrible decisions, like Bailey's ex-boyfriend Boone's (Eric Balfour).
