Gucci Publishes Third Issue of Chime for Change Zine
Founded in 2013, Gucci's CHIME FOR CHANGE is a global campaign that seeks to gather, unite and strengthen voices for gender equality. Today, March 23, Gucci is launching the third issue of its CHIME zine, featuring contributions from artists, activists, and writers from around the world. Edited by writer and organizer Adam Eli, the issue includes articles on the women's uprising in Poland, sustaining a tradition of resistance for a new generation in Egypt, how women and marginalized groups drove Nigeria's #EndSARS movement, the murder of women in Turkey essays and interviews focusing on a variety of topics, including the need for global attention to the prevalence of #EndSARS, confronting prejudice around sexual violence, and the importance of preserving the history of radical queer feminist zine culture of the 1990s and 2000s for the digital age, Artwork includes.
"CHIME ZINE reflects, celebrates, and unites voices fighting for gender equality around the world. Over the past 12-15 months, social movements have gained traction in all corners of the world. This issue of the zine aims to uplift those at the center of these movements." Eli said in a statement to Marieclaire.com.
Thanks to art director MP5, the zine is visually stunning, and its bright colors and eye-catching graphics help convey the message. The idea of the importance of visuals, symbols, and art in social movements is also addressed in CHIME ZINE No. 3. Contributor Ola Jajonowska writes, "Symbols can make people feel as if they are part of something bigger than themselves. Visual expressions of resistance are part of identity for people."
In addition to the third issue of the zine, Gucci joined the Generation Equality Forum (opens in new tab) as the private sector leader of the Feminist Movements & Leadership Action Coalition.
