24 Hours with Haley Bieber
Welcome to Beauty Around the Clock, Marie Claire's weekly peek into the daily lives of the most influential women in their industries. How do these women manage to get through the day's work?
Haley Bieber (open in new tab) doesn't take a day off, even though she stays at home like the rest of us. In the past year, while shooting swoon-worthy Instagram posts and multiple magazine covers, the model and face of Bare Minerals (opens in new tab) has just launched a YouTube channel (opens in new tab). She has also given away her IG credentials and takeovers to many artists, activists, and creators so that she can share her work with her staggering 34 million followers. Below, Bieber reveals his favorite products, favorite workouts, and TV shows his future children will never see.
I usually get up around 8:00 AM and do some sort of workout at 9:00 AM. That's strange because I hated getting up early and only did it when I was working. Now I like the routine of going to bed at a decent hour and getting up early. Today I woke up at 6:45, at the crack of dawn, and really enjoyed watching the sunrise.
The first thing I do is wash my face. I cleanse, put on some sort of moisturizing serum, apply SPF, never leave the house without SPF on. Then I brush my teeth, take the dog for a walk. Then I make coffee. I do this every morning. It's my true routine.
My breakfast staple is an Ezekiel English muffin with sliced avocado, lemon, salt and pepper. If I could eat whatever I wanted without guilt, I'd have chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and two eggs on medium, served with hash browns. But I can't eat much of those things.
Honestly, most of the time I feel sexier without makeup. But if I'm going for a slightly cutesy date look or hopping on a zoom to look a little fresher, I'll do concealer, a little blush, highlighter, mascara, lip balm, and eyebrow gel. This is my 5 or 7 minute routine. For lip color, I like to go for a natural pinkish color, similar to my natural lip color.
Daily Playlist
Back in the day, I always wanted something to uplift me when I went somewhere. I love Megan Gee Stallion. I love Drake and Da Baby. I love making rap playlists.
I also do a lot of reformer Pilates, I go to a place in L.A. called Forma (open in new tab) and it's really good... COVID [protocol] was good too. I can wear a mask and keep my distance in the room. Other than that, I like to do squats, and one of the first things I decided with COVID was that I wanted to build the body I wanted and go after it. I always wanted to feel strong, even though I was very fortunate to have good genes and was naturally skinny. So I started training my leg muscles and my butt. I wanted to tighten my butt. I decided to do a combination of Pilates and weight training because I think that's the best combination for my body. Because I personally think the combination of Pilates and weights is the best fit for my body.
At the end of the day, I often take time for myself. I like to take a bath with candles and bath salts. I find Epsom salts are very good for detoxing the body and muscles. I also put on a face mask and hang out.
Sometimes I wear extensions, sometimes I don't. If I'm not wearing extensions, I'll either let my hair dry or I'll slick my hair back. I put a lot of mask and oil on my hair and let it sit for two days. I'll put it in a middle part and then I'll just slick it back.
I really like Ariana Grande perfume (open in new tab) and Ex Nihilo perfume (open in new tab). I think it's very nice.
I think aquafor (open in new tab) is everything.
I'm very inspired by the old Kate Moss pictures from my youth.
In an ideal world, I would have wanted to be a doctor. I love medicine. I love learning medical stuff. But in reality, I didn't finish high school. I regret it very much. It's not too late, I can graduate. I was so close. If I really wanted to go back and do it, I could have, but it would have been a different life I would have wanted.
My nighttime skin care routine is usually a double cleanse. I use an oil or balm cleanser, then a regular cleanser, then a serum, eye cream, and moisturizer. At night I moisturize a little heavier. If it is very dry, I sometimes layer oil on top of the moisturizer. If I have breakouts, I spot treat or use the Star Face Stickers (opens in new tab). This is amazing. I didn't understand the hype until I started using it.
I usually go to bed around 9:00. If we go to bed and watch a movie, then I take a melatonin gummy and get nice and tired and relaxed. We have a rule that once we get into bed and turn on the TV, we don't use our cell phones all night unless it's for something urgent or to set an alarm. I'm trying to break the habit of calling right before bed. I know it's not good for my brain. Honestly, I like to either get into bed and watch a good show or movie or just keep talking until I get tired. Like everyone else, I'm binge watching Bridgerton (opens in new tab) right now. Just before that, I just finished watching all of Gossip Girl (opens in new tab). When it was on TV when I was in middle school, I wasn't allowed to watch it because my mother thought it was the worst show on the planet. Now, as an adult, when I watch it, I think, "Wow, this was my pain." But I would never want my children to see it either. I'm afraid that they will act like these kids.
