Greta Thunberg deftly trolls British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Twitter feed
Climate activist Greta Thunberg, as we all know, is very, very good at Twitter. After skillfully trolling Donald Trump (opens in new tab) several times (opens in new tab), she turned her focus this week to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Prime Minister Johnson referred to environmental activists with the condescending term "bunny hogging."
Johnson addressed a virtual climate summit hosted by President Joe Biden this week, and according to a report in the Guardian (opens in new tab), Johnson... . called for a bizarre call to action." Bunny haggling "or however you want to describe it, it is essential for all of us to show that this is not all about expensive, politically correct, environmentally friendly actions," he said, adding, "Bunny haggling is not a bad thing, but you know what I mean. You know what I mean."
Sternberg saw the opportunity: she changed her Twitter bio to "Bunny Hugger." Legend!
Samberg gave powerful testimony yesterday (Earth Day) before the House Oversight Committee condemning subsidies for fossil fuel producers. Biden recently announced a tax plan to gut these subsidies while offering new initiatives for clean energy producers, reports the New York Times (opens in new tab).
"It's 2021. The fact that we are still having this debate, and the fact that we are still using taxpayer money to subsidize fossil fuels, is shameful," Sunberg said, reports the Guardian (opens in new tab). 'It's clear evidence that we don't understand the urgency of climate change at all. [To fulfill the commitments of the Paris Agreement, we must end fossil fuel subsidies, stop new exploration, divest from fossil fuels altogether, and keep carbon in the ground. [Unlike you, my generation will not give up without a fight. 'How long do you honestly believe that you and your ilk in power can get away with it? It is up to the youth of today to decide how you will be remembered.
