Meghan Markle to Publish First Children's Book Inspired by Harry and Archie

It seems the Sussex media empire is more than podcasts (opens in new tab) and Netflix deals (opens in new tab). On Tuesday, the Duchess announced that she has written her first children's book titled The Bench, which will hit bookstores on June 8, 2021. The book, illustrated by Christian Robinson, depicts the bond between father and son as seen through the eyes of a mother. A diverse and contemporary portrait of the family, the book offers a glimpse into tender moments between a boy and his father.

Princess Meghan's debut novel was inspired by the relationship between her husband, Prince Harry, and their 2-year-old son, Archie. According to a press release, although the book is inspired by her own family, it "captures the evolving and expanding relationship between father and son and reminds us of the many ways love can take shape and be expressed in the modern family." And just when you thought it couldn't get any sweeter, Princess Meghan also narrates the audiobook version for children who are glued to their devices or simply want to hear Montecito's favorite royal tell a story about their father's love.

"The Bench began with a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born. This expression was especially important to me, and Christian and I worked closely together to portray this special bond through an inclusive lens.
