Read MoreMatt James' (opens in new tab) long, long Bachelor (opens in new tab) season has been riddled with disappointing, revealing drama off-screen. But recent news has called for a "big reset" (opens in new tab) of the franchise: in 2021, there will be two Bachelorettes. One of them is Katie Thurston, who "brought a vibrator to meet up with Matt" (opens in new tab); the other Bachelorette in 2021 will be Michelle Young, who made it to the Final 2 before James eliminated her and behaved with utter class in After the Final Rose She will be Michelle Young, who showed utter class in After the Final Rose.
Early spoilers for Reality Steve revealed that Thurston had been tapped as the lead, then both Thurston and ABC denied this, and finally James' Bachelor finale revealed in a big way that there would be two leads: two seasons and two I realize that having the Bachelorette may sound a little confusing, but I get it: this is the first time in franchise history that a producer has done it this way, and there will be some adjustments as they do it. In fact, I'm looking forward to this season; here's what we know so far about Thurston, which, according to Us Weekly, finished a week ahead of schedule and apparently "went well."
ABC has confirmed that Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette will premiere on ABC on June 7, 2021 at 8pm ET.
Is there a trailer?
You bet. Here's the first-look trailer, complete with dubbed dolls, lots of crying, and a guy dressed as a cat:
And Blake Moines, one of Claire and Tasia's most impressive suitors from the "Bachelorette" season, shows up to date Thurston Here's another sneak peek, with proof that:
Former Bachelorette Caitlin Bristowe and Taysia Adams (open in new tab) will take over as co-hosts this season as Chris Harrison continues his hiatus from the show (as seen in the promo above (can be seen in the promo above). Bristowe is coming off a win on Dancing with the Stars, and Theysia Adams' season ended last year.
Asked about viewers who would not watch the show without Harrison, Thurston said, "I think they are on the wrong side of history. I support Chris and everything he is doing and I think this is the best decision. There were a lot of uncomfortable conversations, but they were important conversations."
Harrison will also take over as host of Bachelor in Paradise (more on that later).
Don't worry, your favorite hot mess show will return to our screens on Monday, August 16, 2021 after a two-year absence (I'm delighted because it's my favorite of the bunch).
Thanks to the lack of Paradise in 2020, there will be about 150 (...) contestants to choose from, ABC executive Rob Mills said, "It's really hard to figure out how to get that to a cast of 15 to 18 people" (opens in new tab). But they are "obsessed" with bringing the show to our screens, and the cast is likely to include Ben Smith, Joe Park, and Bennett Jordan from the Adams/Crowley season. However, Chris Harrison will not be hosting and will be replaced by a "guest comedian. "For more information about BiP's upcoming season, click here (opens in new tab).
Young's final season of The Bachelor will air in the fall of 2021, meaning she will likely begin filming in July, around the time "Bachelor in Paradise" ends. That means filming will begin in July, around the time "Bachelor in Paradise" ends:
Thanks to a spoiler from Reality Steve (opens in new tab), filming took place at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico We now know that the filming took place at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya outside Albuquerque, New Mexico. Due to the ongoing COVID quarantine procedures, it was almost certainly a closed set, with guests presumably flown in, quarantined, and not moved.
When it comes to dating, the 550-acre resort has plenty of options. The resort has five restaurants, three pools, a full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, and tennis courts. You can also expect adventurous dates, including horseback riding, biking, fly fishing, hiking, hot air ballooning, and equestrian yoga.
ABC announced the 34 contestants for Thurston's season on its Facebook page. The contestants range in age from 26 to 36, which is older than the average age of the show. One notable contestant with Bachelor Nation ties is Andrew Spencer, a 26-year-old from Waukegan, Illinois, who is the cousin of Bachelorette and Paradise alum Clay Spencer. Michael Ario, 36, from Akron, Ohio, founded a nonprofit in memory of his wife, who passed away from breast cancer. Another notable name is Bao Wu, a 36-year-old real estate agent from San Diego, Calif. And, of course, Moines. There's also a potential villain: Thomas Jacobs, who, according to Reality Steve magazine, is "an early favorite, but one who won't fit in with the rest of the players quickly."
WARNING: Spoiler alert.
We also have a bit of info on some of the contestants and Katie's final picks. Blake Moines will appear early in Claire and Taysha's season. [Blake will be in the final four along with Greg Grippo (who received a rose for his first impression) and John Hershey. I know these three; I still don't know who the fourth is. I've heard the names, but I'm not confident about any of them. I know these three," he said. One thing we do know: according to Us Weekly, Thurston will leave the season engaged.
