Beauty Inside & Outside Trinity Muson Wofford
In the ultimate quest for inner beauty and outer radiance, Marie Claire asked some of her favorite trailblazers to share their secrets for finding balance in their busy lives. Published in Beauty Inside & Out.
Trinity Mouzon Wofford wants to dispel the "unattainable" and "expensive" labels that haunt wellness. For her, it is a personal passion: Muzon Wofford's mother suffers from an autoimmune disease. When her mother switched to a holistic-minded doctor, her health improved greatly. Says Muzon Wofford, "This made me pause and think about what I want to do in wellness and how accessibility plays into that." So in 2017, she teamed up with her high school sweetheart to launch Golde, a wellness brand offering superfood blends and beauty products (like turmeric lattes and papaya face masks). She started with one product and now boasts a collection of blends, kits, and supplements. Now you can find Golde's goodies all over Instagram, and if you're lucky, you can even get them on their website (products sell out frequently due to high demand). Below, the co-founder and CEO shares how to focus, her skin care routine, and a recipe for healthy, yes, healthy mushroom brownies.
Gardening. I am a huge advocate of work-life balance. One of the reasons I started my own business is because I love working hard. I also believe that it is important to take My greatest self-care is to get outside and get in nature, not the classic bubble bath. This past year, like everyone else on the planet, I have become obsessed with gardening.
Golde Shroom Shield: (open in new tab) It is basically creamy cocoa with functional mushrooms. It's great for stress and boosting the immune system. It also helps me keep my cool.
Candles: I am very fortunate to come from a family of candle makers. My in-laws own a company called Kobo Candles (opens in new tab). They hand pour all of their candles in a factory not far from where we live in upstate New York. the "seeds collection" is full of classic summer scents like sunflowers and ripe tomatoes. It's very nice. I love burning these scents at home.
Acupuncture: I love acupuncture; I haven't had it in years since [Covid-19] closed, but I'm really looking forward to getting back into it. It really helps with neck and shoulder tension.
Stretching: Whenever possible, I stretch in any way possible. Sometimes I watch yoga videos, but mostly I just stretch. Literally, I contort my body into a shape that feels good.
Circum Daily Regenerating Gel Cleanser: (open in new tab) I like to keep my skincare routine pretty natural. I have a few different brands that I really love and almost all of them are small businesses because I want to be able to support people on their own entrepreneurial journey.Circumference's Regenerative Face Wash is my favorite. It is a classic, gentle gel cleanser, but there is something very luxurious about it. They are very passionate about upcycling their ingredients and making very thoughtful formulas. It really shows when you use it; I use it twice a day, every day.
Palermo Hydrating Facial Toner: (open in new tab) The second step in my skin care routine is a little spray of a facial toner from the Brooklyn-based brand Palermo. It smells very much like geranium oil. (Opens in a new tab) The founder, Jess [Morelli], (Opens in a new tab) is very passionate about essential oils and uses high quality ingredients. I trust her products.
Face Oil Last but not least, face oil. I have a lot of them, but the one I use most often these days is a Japanese brand of balm called Chidoriya. It contains camellia oil. (Opens in a new tab) I really like it when I don't want to make my skin too greasy, which is important in the summer. Briogeo Avocado and Quinoa Co-Wash: (opens in new tab) I have been using this product for years. I part my hair in the shower and use my fingers to loosen my curls. I part my hair in the shower and use my fingers to loosen my curls. This wash has a great balance of being very moisturizing, but also has a nice slip to loosen hair.
Yesfolk Body Butter: (open in new tab) Yesfolk is a small, family-owned company in upstate New York that makes my favorite kombucha. But they also have this simple, unscented body butter. I put this on my hair one time. When I braid my hair, I give it a swipe.
Make the brownies:
