The collaboration between Nicole Kidman and David E. Kelley is reason enough to give the show a try. (opens in new tab) Lucky for us, Hulu's "Nine Perfect Strangers" (opens in new tab), which premieres August 18, also has a cast of beloved actors, including Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, and Luke Evans. Nine Perfect Strangers invites viewers to Tranquillum House, a comprehensive wellness retreat run by Russian guru Masha (Kidman). Masha selects nine people who need to heal their inner demons, but as the retreat progresses, the guests realize that Masha's unorthodox methods mean that they are using their inner demons. This ensemble drama features a large cast.

Marcia, a wellness guru, runs Tranquillum House, an ultra-expensive secluded retreat in Northern California. A former CEO who retired after a near-death experience, Marsha carefully selects Tranquillum's guests and uses unorthodox methods to transform them into better people. Kidman has become the queen of prestige TV in recent years thanks to her collaboration with David E. Kelley ("Big Little Lies," "The Undoing"). The Australian actress is, of course, also a movie star, best known for her roles in "Moulin Rouge" and "Cold Mountain."

Delilah, one of Masha's valets, has a mysterious past that led her to work at Tranquillum House. She believes Marcia is wonderful, not to mention Marcia's closeness with Delilah's boyfriend, Yao. Boone became a star last year when he played the younger version of Kerry Washington's Mia in Little Fires Everywhere. The Baltimore native has also appeared in The Chi, Hunters, and The Following series.

Yao, an attendant at the Tranquilam House, has a strong bond with Masha. In addition to being her right-hand man at the retreat, Yao is also the paramedic who treated Masha the night she "died." Now he must balance his devotion to Masha with his relationship with Delilah. Jacinto's breakthrough role was as Jason Mendoza, the gentle fool he played in the NBC comedy "The Good Place." Since then, his career has exploded, including a role in the remake of Top Gun.

Romance novelist Frances Welty had a tough year. She suffered a back injury, her publisher terminated her contract, and she was scammed by a man she met online. She comes to Tranquillum House with many wounds, but is hesitant to surrender to the experience. Melissa McCarthy is a comedy icon who was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Bridesmaids. More recently, she received her second nomination for her performance in the film "Can You Ever Forgive Me," showing that she excels in dramatic acting as well. McCarthy is also set to play Ursula in the live-action "The Little Mermaid" remake.

Tony is a former star football player who has become addicted to painkillers after a serious injury. Although he came to Tranquillum House voluntarily, he is stubborn and antagonistic toward Masha and all the health practices she uses. If Marcia can convince him, he too will overcome much of it. A native of New Jersey, Cannavale has won Emmys for "Will & Grace," "Nurse Jackie," and "Boardwalk Empire." He has also been in an eight-year relationship with "Bridesmaids" actress Rose Byrne.

Napoleon is the head of the Marconi family and came to Tranquillum House to heal from the death of his son and brother Zach. A high school teacher, Napoleon is very positive, a little bit goofy, and tries to see the bright side of things. Shannon has worked primarily in film and has been nominated for two Academy Awards, for "Revolutionary Road" and "Nocturnal Animals". Most recently, she played Walt Trombie in the murder mystery film Knives Out.

Heather Marconi, Napoleon's wife and Zoe's mother, is still reeling from the death of her son Zach. She is very protective of her daughter Zoe and is at odds with Marcia in unorthodox ways from the very beginning. Melbourne-born Kedi was dubbed the "Golden Girl of Australian TV" in 2014. She recently appeared in the Netflix miniseries Stateless alongside Cate Blanchett.

Twenty-year-old Zoey came to Tranquillum House with her parents to heal the wounds of losing her twin brother Zach three years ago. The retreat took place on Zach's 21st birthday, a difficult time for the entire family. A native New Yorker, Van Patten has appeared in small roles on HBO's "The Sopranos" series and "Boardwalk Empire." More recently, she has appeared in the indie film Good Posture and the Netflix series Maniac.

Carmel is a mother of four and recently divorced from her husband. Her sweet and likable personality is often interrupted by violent outbursts, hinting that there may be more to her past that she is revealing. Hall got her start in comedic acting with the Scary Movie series and The Best Man, and has recently received rave reviews for her dramatic performances in the films Support the Girls and The Hate U Give. She is currently starring in Showtime's dark comedy Black Monday.

Lars is a mysterious guest who tries to sneak contraband into Tranquillum House, from sweet treats to cell phones and Apple Watches. He is not comfortable with Masha's methods, but he and his partner have recently split up. Evans, best known to Disney kids (and adults) for his role as Gaston in the live-action "Beauty and the Beast," has also appeared in the "Wild Speed" series and "The Hobbit" series. He will also play Gaston in the upcoming Disney+ series.

Jessica is a social media influencer who hopes the retreat will help mend the cracks in her marriage. She also has issues to resolve regarding her self-esteem and image. Weaving, an Australian actor, began her career on the leading role soap opera Home and Away (other alumni include Chris Hemsworth and Naomi Watts). She starred in the excellent horror film Ready or Not (highly recommended) and has also appeared in the films Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri and Snake Eyes.

Jessica's husband Ben shows up at the retreat in his beloved Lamborghini. But he is also a bit aimless, wondering what comes next for those who have actually achieved wellness (same, honestly). Greg became famous on the video platform Vine (RIP), where his comedy videos have garnered 7 million followers in three years. He has appeared in the series "Unreal," "American Vandal," "Anna Snow,"
