Emily Blunt to be a modern-day Ziegfeld Girl at the 2021 Met Gala
America is all about the stars and stripes, and Emily Blunt's red carpet look at the Met Gala 2021 (opens in new tab) was... She is known for her headpieces! Emily Blunt brought American energy to this year's Met Gala, not in red, white or blue, but in copious (and copious) amounts of silver glitter.
Blunt returned to the Met Gala red carpet this year in a custom Miu Miu frock. In fact, glitter covered the entire see-through skirt and bodice. A white cape added even more drama to the look! Diamond bracelets, diamond earrings, and a silver clutch bag completed the look
.
While the other stars on the red carpet at this year's gala looked to the future of American fashion (opens in new tab), Blunt's look was decidedly retro, but with a few updated touches. The entire look was inspired by Hedy Lamarr, the iconic actress and star of the classic 1941 fashion film The Ziegfeld Girl. Both looks featured star-studded headpieces, but Brandt's was much more understated. Instead of a full-fledged tiara, Blunt wrapped silver strands around a sleek updo. Brandt's headpiece also featured some oversized pearls for a sweetly modern touch.
