Netflix has teamed up with horror master Mike Flanagan ("The Haunting of Hill House," "The Haunting of Bly Manor" (opens in new tab)) for a chilling new series, premiering September 24, and set to air in the United States on September 25, critically acclaimed by Stephen King and other horror fans, "Midnight Mass" follows the residents of Crockett Island (opens in new tab), a small island with a population of only 127, as a new priest arrives at their Catholic church and a series of seemingly miraculous events occur. The moody meditation on religious fervor and death features a stellar cast of Flanagan regulars and newcomers alike. Here's what we know about the inhabitants of Crockett Island.

Riley is an atheist recently recovered from alcoholism and released from prison after a car accident that left a young woman dead. Guilt-ridden, he returns to his hometown to live with his family. Guilford has been active in television for more than a decade, appearing in "Friday Night Lights" (Saracen.), "L.A.'s Finest" and "Good Girls. Midnight Mass is her first collaboration with director Flanagan, and she is also set to appear in the director's next film, The Midnight Club.

Father Paul is the new priest who arrives at St. Patrick's Church on Crockett Island to replace the elderly Monsignor Pruitt, who has fallen ill. Upon his arrival, those receiving communion begin to heal from old age and various wounds. Linklater has had a long career in television, including "Fargo," "Legion," "The Newsroom," and "The New Adventures of Old Christine. He also appeared in the Academy Award-nominated film "The Big Short."

Green is the prodigal daughter of Crockett Island, who ran away from her abusive mother as a teenager and returned as an adult. Siegel has appeared in each of her husband Flanagan's Netflix shows, including a lead role as Theo in The Haunting of Hill House and in his horror films Hush, Oculus, and Gerald's Game He has also appeared in the horror films Hush, Oculus, and Gerald's Game. He will next be seen in the TV version of the fantasy romance film "The Time Traveler's Wife".

Bev Keen works with Erin as a teacher, asserting her steadfast religious beliefs and holier-than-thou superiority over the town. She also helps the former monsignor and welcomes Father Paul and his miracles. Sloyan is best known for her work with Flanagan and Netflix mega-producer Shonda Rhimes. She played an employee accused of sleeping with Fitz in an early season of Scandal, played a doctor in season 12 of Grey's Anatomy, and joined the Flanaganverse as Steve's wife in Hill House.

The new town sheriff, Hassan, is often at odds with Bev Keane and the town's growing Catholic fervor as he tries to raise his son as a Muslim. Corey had his breakout role as Owen in The Haunting of Bly Manor. He has also appeared on the CW's superhero shows "iZombie" and "Supergirl," and voiced Scarecrow in "Harley Quinn" and has a large fan base.

Ali is new to the island but has already made friends with Warren Flynn and the other altar boys. He gradually becomes interested in the miracles of St. Patrick's. Abri is also a newcomer, with only YouTube Red's Good Game series and the thriller Killer Ransom to his credit.

Sarah is a skeptical doctor who feels suffocated by the small town but stays to take care of her ailing mother. Gish has had an impressive acting career, appearing in shows and movies such as "Mystic Pizza," "The X-Files," "The West Wing," and "Pretty Little Liars." In "Hill House," she joined Flanagan's cast as Mrs. Dudley, the creepy housekeeper.

Ed is Riley's old-fashioned fisherman father and has a difficult relationship with his oldest son. Thomas began acting as a child and got his first major role as Elliot in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Since then, he has continued his acting career, most recently starring with Flanagan in "Hill House," "Bly Manor," and the film adaptation of Stephen King's "Doctor Sleep."

Annie is Riley's optimistic and spiritual mother who tries to get him back to church when he returns home. Lehman has appeared on many shows, including "Felicity," "The Killing," and "Motive." Prior to "Midnight Mass," he had a key role in the first season of Netflix's sci-fi epic "Altered Carbon" as the wealthy Messiam Bancroft.

Riley's brother Warren is a playful but kind-hearted teenager who works as an altar boy at church. Besides "Midnight Mass," Rigney is a newcomer with only a handful of acting credits, including a guest appearance in an episode of "Blue Bloods" and a small role in "F9: The Fast Saga."

Lisa is a devout teen and the daughter of the mayor of Crockett Island. After being shot in a hunting accident that leaves her paralyzed in the lower half of her body, she performs the show's first miracle, regaining feeling in her legs. Midnight Mass is newcomer Simon's first television role, and she is also set to appear in Flanagan's upcoming series, The Midnight Club.

Corey is a town baggage and alcoholic who struggles with past mistakes, including a hunting accident that left Lisa paralyzed. Longstreet is a veteran actor and has appeared repeatedly on Flanagan's show, including as Mr. Dudley in "Hill House" and an appearance on "Dr. Sleep." He has also recently appeared in "Judas and the Black Messiah" (open in new tab), "Halloween Kills," and "Aquaman."
