Michelle Cordero Grant's work clothes
Michelle Cordeiro Grant spent more than a decade in the lingerie industry, including Victoria's Secret and Nautica. There, she stopped following the ethos of the big brands and instead followed her instincts; in 2015, she launched her own lingerie and essentials company, Lively (opens in new tab), offering bras, T-shirts, and underwear that "fit women's bodies, not the other way around"
More than five years later, Lively boasts an extensive product line that includes activewear, loungewear, swimwear, and self-care products. Influencer marketing has allowed them to scale quickly: before officially launching, Lively had 100 brand ambassadors; now they have 150,000. That so many global customers and ambassadors feel so close to Lively is probably due to the company's message of self-love and body positivity. (Plus, who doesn't love a bra that really, really, actually fits?)
Lively is all about making women feel powerful, and Cordeiro Grant has also introduced what he wears to feel that way.
I get up every morning around 6:30 and try to have some time to myself before the rest of the household wakes up and the chaos begins. This is a rule I followed even during the pandemic to maintain a sense of normalcy. I drink my coffee (with MCT oil) at this time and before I know it, the kids are awake. If I have time, I like to do one quality activity with the kids: do DIY or arts and crafts, make a sweet breakfast (Joanna Gaines ricotta pancakes are my favorite), or just sit and enjoy conversation.
Once the kids are ready for school, I work up a sweat for the day. My latest routine is a beach run followed by 10-15 minutes of Melissa Wood Health flow. I've never been the type to resonate with traditional meditation, but running gives me the same clarity, grounding, and perspective.
Shower and do my beauty routine: cleanse with Wander Beauty's Drift Away (open in new tab), apply Dr. Dennis Gross' Vitamin C serum (open in new tab) under eyes, Wander mascara (open in new tab) and Brightening Cream (open in new tab), Supergoop.'s Unseen Sunscreen (open in new tab), and a pop of color with NARS Gypsy lipstick (open in new tab). I never leave the house without spraying Lively's Face Mist (opens in new tab) all over my body.
When I have time, I make my signature Daily Elixir (opens in new tab). It's an adaptation of a recipe I made when the quarantine first started. I make sure to drink one during the day. It's energizing, anti-inflammatory, easy to make, and delicious (basically everything). Once I've had a glass and am ready to go, I get on with the day's work
My secret to getting dressed smoothly is to lay out my clothes the night before, thinking about my plans for the next day five or ten minutes in advance and planning what I want to wear accordingly, stressing out in the morning, It eliminates the possibility of frantically putting together something you end up not liking or not feeling comfortable in. And it makes the process more enjoyable and a moment of meditation of sorts.
This depends on what kind of calls or meetings I have that day, but I like to mix casual, comfortable (but cute) basics with one or two statement or feminine pieces. Jeans (we love Mother Denim (opens in new tab)) with classic tops (we alternate between Lively's lounge tee (opens in new tab) and Wknd Nation's power tee (opens in new tab)), but blazers ( Veronica Beard and Frankies have high-quality, timeless pieces) and printed heels to dress it up. Or opt for a printed top and a statement belt to keep it simple yet playful. [For important meetings], I'll wear a blazer or wrap dress and always heels. Thanks, Loeffler Randall (opens in new tab).
I always dress up my outfits with Alexa Leigh necklaces and bracelets. I'm obsessed with the Ball collection (opens in new tab).
Denim jumpsuits make me feel like I can conquer the world.
Lively's oversized scrunchies (opens in new tab) are my sidekick. I rarely take it off my wrist. It's the perfect shade of pink for me, and its pop of color immediately lifts my spirits and elevates even the most casual of outfits. It's also functional, and I need to keep a hair tie on hand at all times for when I'm going crazy or immersed in a project or task. [fashion, functionality, and comfort.
I have found that I am most confident when I look my best. Even old, torn jeans and a white t-shirt can make you feel supremely stylish if you have the right mindset.
