The ending of "Death Penalty for All" explained.

Just a few months after "Squid Game," yet another Korean drama has landed atop Netflix's Top 10 chart. This time it's All of Us Are Dead, a fast-paced and stressful zombie series set in a suburban high school that has become the source of a deadly virus. In the vein of Korean hits "Train to Busan" and "Kingdom," this new series takes the zombie genre to a new place, following a group of students who must fend for themselves through an outbreak.

In "They're All Dead," it becomes clear early on that not all of the students will make it out of Troop Mountain alive. With such a broad cast, including the students' parents and other townspeople, the show had plenty of room to sacrifice some of our favorite characters. Here is the conclusion of Season 1 of "All Are Dead" and who survived the zombie outbreak. All Are Dead Spoiler Alert

The finale opens on the ashes of Hyosan. It is after the last students trapped in Hyosan High School escape the bombing thanks to Chong's sacrifice. After resting in the forest, Onjo, Soo-hyuk, and Nam-ra return to look for Mr. Chung in the wreckage, and Onjo grieves for his friend as Nam-ra hugs him. [On-jo is hugged by Nam-ra. The children get a little lost in the forest, but notice that several trees have ribbons tied to them, which serve as signposts. At the base of one tree, Onjo finds his father's flashlight and realizes that his father was showing him the way to the safe zone. Even though she was a zombie, even though she died in the explosion, her father was there to help her. It turns out that the bombing did not wipe out all the zombies. The children are moving through the smoky town and are soon attacked by a group of zombies. While they are fighting off the attack, Archer's hari brother Uzin is bitten.

The group is upset, but Namra is emotionless, her eyes red from using her zombie powers to fight off the other zombies. Namra kills Woojin in front of her sister, showing a side of her that is more zombie than human. She also has difficulty resisting the urge to bite humans and almost bites Onjo. Instead, she gets out of that urge and runs away to the safety of her friends.

Six students make it to the isolation camp alive: Onjo, Suhyuk, Hye-ri, Mi-jin, Tae-su, and Hyo-ryeong. They have all lost loved ones and are dealing with their grief in their own ways: Mi-jin complains about her college experience, and Suhyuk asks why they were left behind after seeing his father's friends. Onjo refuses to cooperate with the military that left them to die, and says he will never ask anything from adults again.

A few months later, the military lifts martial law, but the virus has not yet been wiped out and the residents of the iceberg must stay in quarantine. Onjo escapes from the camp and goes to the cenotaph she built in a tree on the mountain for her deceased comrades, including Isak, Chungsang, and Namra. There, she notices a fire burning on the roof of the school.

Onjo finds Suhyuk and tells him about the fire, remembering Nam-ra's words on the school roof, "Let's have a campfire when we meet again." He then invites her to go to school with him to see if Nam-ra is there, and advises her not to tell anyone else. Of course, everyone shows up that night, and on their way they stop at the memorial, where they see another fire at the school.

When they get to the roof, Namra is there, happy, almost human again. She says she has found an evolved zombie like herself. She says that even though they are apart, they are friends, and that she will be back, and she jumps off the rooftop to her new friends. The students are shocked to see Namra go, and Soo-hyuk slowly smiles as they look after her.

This open ending gives us great hope for a possible Season 2, which will follow Namra as she leads a new group of evolved zombies. The army does not know how to deal with them, and even if they are able to suppress their urge for blood, the Namuras will probably be imprisoned, if not killed. A former class president leading the evolved zombies to safety with the help of other students might be a fun plot to continue her story. Ultimately, it will be up to Netflix to see if the students of Iceberg High School continue.
