Dior reopens at 30 rue Montaigne
More than 70 years ago, on December 15, 1946, Christian Dior was dazzled by the Hôtel Particulier at 30 rue Montaigne in Paris, France, a building built in 1865 by Napoleon's son, whose elegant architecture and neo-classical facade, it attracted designers. It had to be at 30 rue Montaigne. I was going to settle here. Christian Dior said of this archetypal corner townhouse that would be transformed over the course of seven years into an iconic five-story atelier
.
In 1947, Dior's first collection, presented as "New Look," was unveiled in the majestic Salon at 30 Montaigne. Today, after two years of restoration and renovation with architect Peter Marino, a friend of the Maison for 25 years, that emblematic address is reopening. Dior fans will get a long-awaited glimpse inside the walls where the famed Dior empire was first built.
Blending the past with the future, 30 Montaigne will serve not only as a flagship store, but also as an haute couture salon, haute couture atelier, and high jewelry atelier: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferrè, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri. The Dior café and restaurant is headed by top French chef Jean Ambert. The premises include three green sanctuaries, with apple trees and roses (said to be the designer's favorite variety of flower) planted on the third floor.
When you book La Suite Dior, a private apartment located between the stores, you are given a dedicated staff member and a key to the emblematic address, 30 rue Montaigne.
