Maya Bander to drop "Sell the Sunset"?

Season 5 of "Selling Sunset" saw a bittersweet pseudo-breakup for original cast member Maya Vander. One of our favorite realtors with impressive business acumen and cute quips (opens in new tab), Maya has been shuttling between Miami and LA since the show began. She even attended a gorgeous house sale in Santa Monica during the goodbye party. 'I hate to say goodbye, but it makes for a nice parting gift. At the end of the day, I want to be Superwoman, but I can't do that. I have to prioritize," she said on the show.

Many of us are wondering if this means Maya is leaving the show or if she will still find a way to appear. Here is what we know so far.

In an interview with Tudum (opens in new tab), Maya confirmed that she has decided to remain in Miami full time. She explained that she was pregnant during the filming of season 5 and wanted to spend more time with her family after the birth of her third child. After filming ended, in December 2021, she sadly suffered a stillbirth. She told Tudum that she plans to get pregnant again, adding, "I have those moments, but life goes on and most days I'm fine."

She also reflected on the past five seasons and said that the office scene where she and her team play catch was her favorite scene to shoot. She also talked about how she remained neutral throughout the show about the war-like fight between Krischel and Christine." If someone is wrong and someone is doing something wrong, I would say yes. But it's not my goal to put anyone down or to fight with anyone."

Maya first hinted at her departure from the show last December, saying on "The Domenic Nati Show" (open in new tab) that there was no chance she would return full-time even if there was a season 6 (open in new tab). 'It's going to be logistically difficult to go back and forth again, especially with a third child,' he said. Realistically speaking, if the show is renewed for another season, I'm going to focus more on Miami, my family, and my business here."

She also said in an interview with Tudum that she is willing to travel to LA once a month for cameo appearances." No one ever quits on their own." If someone says, "Yes, come out once a month," I say, "Sign me up. I don't care who complains. It's the perfect opportunity. I always complain to producers about me flying back and forth, but I wanted to be a part of it, so I made it happen."

Maya has been busy building her real estate brand since she finished filming season 5 of Sunset. She has launched her own training course for new agents (opens in new tab), posts informational clips on her Instagram, and announced in February that she and two female agents have established their own brokerage firm, Maya Vander Group, in Miami.

She also returned to Sunset to film the long-awaited reunion, which will air on May 6. She has a billboard in Miami, but will likely be in LA working on a strange project, as her bio (opens in new tab) is still posted on the Oppenheim Group website (unlike the rest of the cast, *Christine may have left). Hopefully she'll stop by and say hi during Season 6.

Maya's fans could also see the "Sell" franchise continue in her new business, following the premiere of "Sell Tampa" and the upcoming "Sell OC". A real estate agent told Distractify (opens in new tab) that she would be "100 percent" up for being part of a real estate show in Miami.

"Real estate is so great and sexy [in Miami]. I would love to do something here. I think there's tremendous potential, and if I don't have to jump on a five-hour round-trip flight in a 48-hour period, I would definitely do it," she said.

Here's what that would look like: a cameo at Sunset and a sale in Tampa. "Selling Miami" her own show without Adam DiVello - time will tell.
